Archival aviation print of the Supermarine Seafire F.Mk.XVII captured by photographer Stuart H Bourne. Copyright Stuart H Bourne / QAPI

The Supermarine Seafire F.Mk.XVII was a navalized evolution of the legendary Spitfire, designed for carrier operations with the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm. This particular aircraft — serial number SX336 — was built by Westland Aircraft in 1946 and served briefly before being retired and nearly scrapped in the 1950s. Rescued from a Warrington scrapyard in 1973, SX336 underwent a decades-long restoration and now flies again thanks to the dedication of Tim Manna and the team at The Shuttleworth Collection in Bedfordshire, UK. This print captures SX336 in a rare moment of symmetry and grace — a tribute to both its wartime legacy and its modern-day preservation. Photograph © Stuart H Bourne / [Quality Aviation Photos Internationa](https://www.qualityaviationimages.com/) Aircraft SX336 is currently operated by [Navy Wings UK](https://navywings.org.uk/portfolio/seafire-sx336/) and flies in the markings of 767 Naval Air Squadron.
