Supermarine Spitfire/Seafire

The Supermarine Spitfire is Britain’s most iconic fighter of World War II—renowned for its elliptical wings, agile handling, and pivotal role in the Battle of Britain. Designed by R.J. Mitchell and first flown in 1936, the Spitfire evolved through dozens of variants, from the early Mk I to the high-performance Mk XIV and photo-recon PR versions. Powered by Rolls-Royce Merlin and later Griffon engines, it served across every major theater and with multiple Allied air forces.

The Seafire was the navalized version of the Spitfire, adapted for carrier operations with folding wings, arrestor hooks, and strengthened undercarriage. First delivered in 1942, Seafires flew combat missions from the Mediterranean to the Pacific, including Operation Torch and the Normandy landings. Though delicate on deck, their performance matched land-based fighters, making them a vital asset to the Fleet Air Arm.

This category features high-resolution prints of Spitfire and Seafire aircraft in flight, on takeoff, and in museum preservation—captured by aviation photographer Stuart H. Bourne. Included are restored examples like G-IRTY, G-BUAR, and ML407, each cataloged with verified serials, squadron history, and archival context.

Whether you're drawn to the Spitfire’s graceful silhouette, its combat legacy, or the Seafire’s naval evolution, these prints offer a visually rich tribute to one of the most celebrated aircraft families in aviation history.
