This image features Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX MH415, parked on an airfield and wearing the distinctive N3311 AI/B squadron codes. Photographed by Stuart H. Bourne, the aircraft is shown in its Battle of Britain movie livery, used during filming in the late 1960s.

The Mk IX variant was developed to counter the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and featured the powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 61 engine, giving it superior high-altitude performance. MH415 itself is a genuine combat veteran, later restored and registered as G-AVDJ, now part of the Flying Legends GmbH collection.

The N3311 AI/B markings were not original wartime identifiers but part of a cinematic recreation. MH415 flew over 125 hours during production, portraying multiple aircraft identities to represent RAF fighters of the era. The camouflage scheme—standard RAF Day Fighter pattern with grey-green tones—was chosen to match historical accuracy while remaining visually striking on film.

This listing captures a rare moment where aviation history and cinematic storytelling intersect, showcasing a Mk IX Spitfire in a unique post-restoration role.
