Avro Lancaster

The Avro Lancaster was the RAF’s principal heavy bomber of World War II—renowned for its long-range capability, massive payload, and role in some of the most daring missions of the war. First flown in 1941 and powered by four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the Lancaster could carry the RAF’s largest bombs, including the 12,000 lb “Tallboy” and 22,000 lb “Grand Slam.” It became a symbol of Britain’s strategic bombing campaign and the backbone of Bomber Command.

This category features high-resolution prints of Lancaster aircraft in flight, on takeoff, and in museum preservation—captured by aviation photographer Stuart H. Bourne. Included are iconic airframes like PA474 of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and NX611 “Just Jane”, each cataloged with verified serials, squadron history, and archival context.

Whether you're drawn to the Lancaster’s role in Operation Chastise, its night bombing raids over Europe, or its enduring presence in airshows and museums, these prints offer a visually rich tribute to one of the most legendary aircraft of the Second World War.
