Hawker Hurricane

The Hawker Hurricane was the unsung hero of the Battle of Britain—responsible for more aerial victories than any other RAF fighter during the campaign. First flown in 1935 and entering service in 1937, the Hurricane combined rugged construction with the powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, making it a reliable and adaptable platform across multiple roles: interceptor, ground attack, night fighter, and naval operations as the Sea Hurricane.

With over 14,500 built, the Hurricane served in every major theater of World War II—from the sands of North Africa to the jungles of Burma. Variants included the cannon-armed Mk IIC, the tank-busting Mk IID, and Canadian-built Mk XII examples. Its fabric-over-metal design allowed for rapid field repairs, and its wide-track undercarriage made it ideal for rough airstrips.

This category features high-resolution prints of Hawker Hurricanes in flight, on takeoff, and in museum preservation—captured by aviation photographer Stuart H. Bourne. Included are restored examples like G-HUPW, G-CBOE, and P2617, each cataloged with verified serials, squadron history, and archival context.

Whether you're drawn to the Hurricane’s role in defending Britain, its versatility across global squadrons, or its enduring legacy in airshows and museums, these prints offer a visually rich tribute to one of the most important fighters of the Second World War.
