This image features Hawker Hurricane Mk IIC PZ865, known as “The Last of the Many”, parked on an airfield and photographed by Stuart H. Bourne. PZ865 was the final Hurricane built out of 14,533 units and now serves as a flying memorial operated by the .

Currently based at RAF Coningsby, PZ865 is painted in a striking Night Intruder camouflage scheme—a black and dark earth pattern used by Hurricanes during nocturnal operations in WWII. The aircraft bears RAF roundels and tail flashes, with the inscription “The Last of the Many!” near the cockpit, commemorating its unique production status.

Originally built in July 1944, PZ865 was retained by Hawker Aircraft for testing and later flew in air races and promotional events. It was transferred to the RAF in 1972 and has since been restored to airworthy condition, flying regularly with the BBMF to honor the legacy of RAF fighter pilots
