This image showcases Hawker Hurricane Mk IIC PZ865, the final Hurricane ever built, flying in its commemorative RF-U livery as part of the . Photographed by Stuart H. Bourne, the aircraft is airborne and dressed in a striking Night Intruder camouflage scheme—a black and dark earth pattern used by Hurricanes during nocturnal operations in WWII.

PZ865, affectionately known as “The Last of the Many”, was built in July 1944 and retained by Hawker Aircraft for testing and promotional use. It joined the RAF in 1972 and has since flown as a living tribute to the pilots of the Battle of Britain. The RF-U codes replicate markings from No. 605 Squadron, adding historical depth to its presentation.

Now operated by the BBMF out of RAF Coningsby, PZ865 continues to fly at airshows and commemorative events, preserving the legacy of one of Britain’s most iconic fighters.
