This image captures DA5, the second German development aircraft in the Eurofighter Typhoon program, in-flight with landing gear down. Registered as 98-30, DA5 was part of the early test fleet used to validate flight control systems, avionics, and airframe performance. Operated by the Germany – Air Force, DA5 played a key role in shaping the operational capabilities of the production Typhoon fleet.
Photographed by Stuart H Bourne, the aircraft is shown in a clean prototype configuration, highlighting its aerodynamic profile and test instrumentation. The gear-down posture suggests approach or low-speed handling trials, typical of development sorties flown from Ingolstadt-Manching Air Base.
