This rare image captures de Havilland Mosquito RR299 (civil registration G-ASKH) in its distinctive HT/E camouflage, applied for the 1969 film Battle of Britain. Photographed by Stuart H. Bourne at the Battle of Britain open day at RAF Finningley on 19 September 1981, the aircraft is shown lined up on the runway in full cinematic livery, complete with invasion stripes and fictional squadron codes.

Built in 1945 by the De Havilland Aircraft Company at Leavesden, RR299 was taken on charge by the RAF on 14 April 1945. After postwar service and storage, it was acquired by Hawker Siddeley Aviation in 1963 and later transferred to British Aerospace. Restored to flight as the world’s last airworthy Mosquito, it became a beloved display aircraft until its tragic loss in 1996 during an airshow at Barton Aerodrome.

This photograph preserves RR299’s unique appearance in its film livery, offering a cinematic and historical tribute to the “Wooden Wonder.” Ideal for collectors, historians, and enthusiasts seeking authentic archival aviation imagery.
