The Vickers Super VC10 was Britain’s flagship long-range jetliner of the 1960s and 70s, designed for speed, comfort, and performance from short runways. G-ASGP was one of the 17 Super VC10s built for BOAC (later British Airways), featuring a stretched fuselage and uprated Rolls-Royce Conway engines.

Delivered in 1965, G-ASGP served on intercontinental routes connecting London to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. It was known for its quiet cabin and smooth ride, outperforming many of its contemporaries in hot-and-high conditions. After years of reliable service, G-ASGP was retired from commercial operations and later used by the Royal Air Force as a source of spares for its VC10 fleet.

This photograph, taken by aviation photographer Stuart H Bourne, captures G-ASGP in full British Airways livery, showcasing the elegant lines and distinctive rear-engine layout that made the VC10 a favorite among passengers and crews alike. Printed on archival-quality paper, this image is a tribute to British engineering and the legacy of civil aviation.
