This evocative image captures Supermarine Spitfire NH238 airborne with landing gear extended, photographed by aviation historian Stuart H. Bourne. The aircraft is shown in authentic RAF Day Fighter camouflage—Ocean Grey and Dark Green over Medium Sea Grey—highlighting its wartime heritage and aerodynamic elegance.

NH238 is a Supermarine Spitfire F.IXc, built in 1943 at the Castle Bromwich Aircraft Factory (C/N: CBAF.IX.2200). Originally powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin 61/63/63A engine, this variant was designed for high-altitude interception and tactical support. After its RAF service, NH238 was transferred to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (as H-103 and H-60), then to the Belgian Air Force (as SM-36), and later registered privately as OO-ARE and N238V.

Though once restored to flying condition, NH238 was officially withdrawn from service and deregistered in the UK in 2002 (G-MKIX). It is no longer part of any active warbird fleet, including Boultbee Flight Academy. Today, it stands as a historically significant but retired airframe—its legacy preserved through archival photography and enthusiast collections.

This listing offers a rare glimpse into the life of a Spitfire that served across multiple nations and roles, making it a compelling addition for collectors and aviation historians alike.
