Vickers VC10 Series 1154 5H-MOG is shown here in East African Airways’ vibrant green, yellow, red, and black livery. This aircraft was the last VC10 ever built, delivered in early 1970 and registered in Tanzania under the pan-national East African Airways Corporation. Powered by Rolls-Royce Conway 42-550B turbofans, the Super VC10s were selected for their superior hot-and-high performance and short-field capability—ideal for East Africa’s regional hubs. 5H-MOG was one of five VC10s operated by EAA, each featuring a forward cargo door and extended fuselage for mixed passenger/freight service. This image preserves the elegance of East Africa’s international ambitions during the jet age, bridging colonial legacy with post-independence connectivity. The aircraft was de-registered following EAA’s dissolution in 1977, with no known preserved sections. Photographer Stuart H Bourne. This listing honors a rare and charismatic chapter in African aviation histor
